Due to a sharp decline in world gold prices, on September 25 the selling price of domestic gold reduced to VND 22 million per tael, which has dropped down by VND 200,000 per tael as compared to what it was on September 24.

SJC gold prices that are listed by Saigon Jewelry Holding Company in Ho Chi Minh City for buying were put at VND 22.1 million a tael and for selling they have been VND 22.16 million a tael, dropped down by VND 130,000 per tael compared to those a day before.

Gold prices listed by the Bao Tin Minh Chau Company

Gold prices that are listed by the Bao Tin Minh Chau Company also stood at VND 22.1 million a tael for buying and VND 22.16 million a tael for selling respectively, which have dropped down by VND 160,000 per tael as against those on September 24.

At 1 pm today, for buying a tael of SJC gold was priced at VND 22.04 million and for selling it was VND 22.09 million.

On September 25, gold futures fell to near US$990 an ounce, according to the Wall Street Journal,  ending the week down for the first time in six weeks as investors digested mixed U.S. economic data.

In the previous five weeks gold had rallied 6.5% . The September contract has shown a rise up to US$1,019.80 on September 16, an all-time high for a nearby Comex gold contract.

The Reuters/University of Michigan index showed that the U.S. consumer sentiment index climbed to 73.5 in late September from 70.2 earlier in the month.
